Economic Impacts of the Port of Chicago released

The Great Lakes Seaway Partnership announces the release of Economic Impacts of the Port of Chicago, a report documenting the many contributions made by the Illinois International Port District (IIPD) and Great Lakes Seaway Shipping to the City of Chicago, Cook County, State of Illinois and Great Lakes region.

The study reports that in 2017 the IIPD and maritime commerce supported:

  • 6,381 jobs
  • $820.4 million in economic activity
  • $514.8 million in personal income and local consumption expenditures
  • $192.6 million in federal and state tax revenue

Public meeting - IIPD RFP for Hotel and Boathouse

The Illinois International Port DIstrict is hosting a public meeting to discuss releasing an RFP for a hotel and boathouse on IIPD property.

Illinois International Port District wins 2017 Season 'Pacesetter Award'

The Illinois International Port District achieved a 51 percent growth in international tonnage in their 2017 navigation season. For this, the port was honored with the Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award from the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC), an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The Illinois International Port District and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning have teamed up for a planning priority report.
